Rodrigo Garro made his first Corinthians appearance of the season in a 1-1 draw with Santos on Thursday, the fourth round of the Paulistão.

He came on 18 minutes into the second half at Vila Belmiro, replacing André Carrillo. According to Meu Timao, the Argentine had missed the opening matches through injury.

While on the pitch, he recorded eight actions on the ball. He completed three of six passes and his only cross, and lost possession four times.

Garro had been sidelined in pre-season after surgery on the scaphoid in his left wrist, sustained in the Copa do Brasil final against Vasco da Gama on 21 December. He featured with protection on his hand and only returned to the squad for this clássico.

There had been hope he would be ready for the Supercopa do Brasil. Corinthians face Flamengo on 1 February at 16:00 at Mané Garrincha in Brasília.

The draw marked a third straight game without a win this season, following defeat to Red Bull Bragantino and a draw with São Paulo. Corinthians have five points and sit seventh, and could end the round outside the top eight.

They are back in action on Sunday at 20:30 against Velo Clube at Benito Agnelo Castellano, known as Benitão, in the fifth round of the State competition.
