According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma have placed Sunderland midfielder Habib Diarra on a shortlist in case Manu Koné leaves the Stadio Olimpico this summer, with Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin also under consideration.
No offer has been made and there have been no formal talks with Sunderland. Any pursuit is seen as contingent on Koné departing, so Diarra is viewed as a possible replacement rather than an immediate priority.
Diarra joined from Strasbourg last summer in a deal worth around £30m, becoming Sunderland’s record signing. The 22-year-old agreed a five-year contract and is tied to the Stadium of Light until 2030.
He is expected to play a significant role for Régis Le Bris this season. Sunderland are not thought to be actively seeking a sale and would hold a strong negotiating position if Roma firm up their interest.
The midfielder came through Mulhouse and Strasbourg’s academies and made his Ligue 1 debut in October 2021. He established himself in Strasbourg’s first team before moving to Wearside in July 2025. He has returned to training after an extended post-World Cup break.
