Romarinho seals Portuguesa move, could face Corinthians in 2027 | OneFootball

Portuguesa have signed forward Romarinho, the Corinthians hero of 2012, after his exit from Vitória in October 2025. The club announced the deal on Friday morning. He could face Corinthians in the 2027 Campeonato Paulista.

Romarinho returned to Brazil in June last year to join the Bahia side after more than 10 years in Middle Eastern football. He played only five matches before a doping suspension three months later. According to ge.globo, the case dated to 2023 in Arab football after a substance from fertility medication was flagged while he was trying for a second child.

At his Vitória unveiling, he said he had spoken to Corinthians about a possible return, but nothing progressed.

His contract termination with Vitória was signed five days before what could have been a reunion with Corinthians. The match on 25 October finished 1-0 to Corinthians, with Charles scoring.

For Corinthians, Romarinho made 141 appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 10 assists, and won the Libertadores and Club World Cup in 2012. He rose to prominence by netting two against Palmeiras in his first start in 2012, then equalising the first leg of the Libertadores final against Boca Juniors with his first touch of the competition.
