Rony has bid farewell to Atlético-MG as a move to Santos edges closer. He is expected to become the club’s third addition of the year alongside Gabriel Menino and Gabriel Barbosa.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the clubs are exchanging documents and the forward is expected to sign a three-year contract for around three million euros. His deal with Atlético-MG had run until the end of next year.

In a message to fans, he voiced gratitude for his time at the Galo, said he would have liked to have done more, and thanked staff, team-mates and supporters, adding that he leaves with respect, learning and good memories.

Santos had pursued the 30-year-old since December, with talks cooling several times during negotiations with the Minas Gerais club. They remain in the market for wingers and still hold interest in Flamengo’s Michael.

Born in Magalhães Barata, Pará, Ronielson da Silva Barbosa came through Remo and debuted in March 2014. He joined Cruzeiro, was loaned to Náutico, moved to Albirex Niigata in Japan, then returned with Athletico-PR before five years at Palmeiras, winning multiple titles.

He joined Atlético-MG last year and made his Brazil debut in 2023 in a friendly against Morocco.
