Liam Rosenior has had a month at Chelsea now, and while he’s hardly had a proper training session given the endless series of games we’ve played, we’re still starting to see his influence on our game.

In hi press conference he was asked for more detail on his thoughts on the style of football his team were playing, as well as how they might develop that in the future.

Rosenior on finding the right balance and letting ballers ball

Jamie Carragher’s analysis of Chelsea’s formation.

“When you have different threats on the pitch, it’s very difficult to cover that. So at the moment, our goalscoring threat is really, really good, I would like more clean sheets with that and we’ve got to make sure we get the balance of our game right,” Rosenior said in quotes picked up by the club’s official website.

“For me, the reason most of them are top, elite, world-class players is they make great decisions in the moment. My job is not to tell them where to be; my job is to put them in positions where they can affect the game in their own way.

“Being fluid has positives in terms of being unpredictable for the opposition, but if you do not have the correct structure behind that, you can become really, really open in transition. So it’s trying to find a balance between the two.

“I felt against Wolves there were some really pleasing aspects of our rotations and our fluidity in possession. In the second half, we didn’t stay true to our structure, that’s one of the reasons why our performance wasn’t as good in that half.”

Well, tonight hopefully we get to see that in action, with a huge home game against Leeds to navigate. They will sit deep – can we break them apart? And can we do it in style?

Paul Green’s departure from Chelsea has proved very controversial. The former head of women’s football left last night.

Chelsea may have won at the weekend, but the way they conceded from a set piece will have been very frustrating for a lot of people. There is a potential solution to solve our increasing concerns about the defensive side of corners and free kicks.
