Rui Pedro Silva is poised to leave Wolves and re-join Nuno Espirito Santo at West Ham, meaning he will not be part of Cesar Peixoto’s backroom staff.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Silva has opted to depart Molineux for a second time to link up with Wolves’ Championship rivals.

The 49-year-old spent four years as Nuno’s assistant at Molineux from 2017 to 2021, having previously worked together at Rio Ave, Valencia and Porto.

He was also alongside Nuno at Nottingham Forest before both were axed last September, though he did not join his compatriot in moving to the Hammers.

Silva returned last November after Rob Edwards was appointed head coach, with an expectation he would review his future this summer. Edwards was sacked last month following relegation from the Premier League.

The pair will attempt to mastermind an immediate return to the Premier League, with Wolves aiming to be among their main rivals.

Peixoto has been tasked with leading the promotion push and confirmation of his backroom team is expected shortly. The 46-year-old intends to bring many of those who worked with him at Gil Vicente, and he has never managed outside Portugal.

Players who did not feature at the World Cup report back to Compton Park next week, before a warm-weather camp in Portugal. Wolves’ first friendly is at Maidenhead United on Wednesday, July 22.
