Russell Martin has confirmed Conor Chaplin will miss Leicester City’s trip to Stockport County on Saturday. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the head coach said the forward remains sidelined.

The summer arrival has featured in only two of City’s opening seven matches in all competitions. He started the Carabao Cup defeat to Ipswich Town, then lasted 36 minutes against MK Dons.

Martin had suggested before the Oxford game that Chaplin could make the journey to Edgeley Park, but he has now ruled him out. He added that a return next week against Barnsley is hoped for, or as soon as possible after.

Caleb Okoli is back after a knock suffered in the 2-1 home defeat to Burton Albion, though Martin said a decision is still required on whether he is ready for the squad. Luke Thomas has been partnering Harry Souttar in his absence.

New signing John Lundstram will be in the squad after a full week of training at Seagrave. City visit Stockport looking to respond to last week’s 4-0 home loss to Oxford United, sitting 18th in League One while their hosts are third after five games.
