Ryan Reynolds has revealed how much he misses Anthony Forde at Wrexham.

Ryan Reynolds has admitted that he misses seeing Anthony Forde in a Wrexham AFC shirt after the club’s co-owner was reunited with the former Red Dragons wing-back during Saturday’s match against Burton Albion.

The 31-year-old joined the Welsh side just a year after Rob McElhenney's and Reynolds' arrival and helped the club secure promotions from the National League and League Two.

However, off-the-pitch circumstances limited his impact, as the Irishman’s wife, Laura, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in February 2023.

Fortunately, Reynolds stepped in to support them, helping secure a second opinion from a leading US neurosurgeon. This time, the outlook was far more positive - following a biopsy, the new diagnosis confirmed that the tumour was, in fact, benign.

Speaking about this period of his life on the Talking Transitions podcast, Forde said: "Thanks to the owners, I just don't think I'd have got that help anywhere else - they were amazing. They're genuinely good people who have a good heart and me and my family and friends will always be so grateful."

Reynolds and Forde formed a strong bond during the 31-year-old's time at Wrexham, but he departed the club by mutual consent on transfer deadline day in the winter window.

A few weeks later, the wing-back joined Staffordshire club Burton Albion on a short-term deal. Since then, Forde has made six appearances for the Brewers and was reunited with Reynolds on Saturday, 5th April, with the Wrexham co-owner sharing some heartfelt words about him on Instagram.

"I’ve had some of the best moments of my life in Wrexham," said Reynolds. "Saturday was a top 5.

"Spending time with @anthony_forde1 was a highlight. I love the guy with my whole heart. The reception we gave him was pure class and I miss seeing him in a @wrexham_afc shirt."

It is clear there is no love lost between the two, as Forde responded to the post with, "What a guy ❤️❤️."

Despite his two-and-a-half seasons at the Racecourse being marred by misfortune off the pitch, Forde still enjoyed some memorable moments with the Red Dragons.

During Wrexham’s promotion from the National League, the wing-back scored a crucial goal in their 3-0 victory over Yeovil Town late in the season, helping them pull away from Notts County in the title race.

He also boasts back-to-back promotions, and it is clear that Wrexham supporters appreciated his dedication during challenging times.

Reynolds will no doubt be pleased to have brought the Irishman to Wrexham, and their friendship is something both will likely cherish for years to come.
