Valencia will not be in the Copa del Rey final between Atlético and Real Sociedad on 18 April at La Cartuja, but Sadiq will still have a stake. According to Superdeporte, the Nigerian striker will follow events in Seville closely due to his friendships with former team-mates and staff at the San Sebastián club.
If Real Sociedad lift the trophy, Sadiq will officially be a Copa winner too after contributing in earlier rounds with a goal and an assist. He could also be entitled to any agreed bonuses, if applicable.
Sadiq started the Basques’ first two ties. He played 70 minutes in the 0-3 win at SD Negreira, then proved decisive in the 0-2 victory over Reus, setting up a goal on 49 minutes and converting a penalty on 93.
His time at Real Sociedad was mixed. Signed in 2022 from UD Almería to lead the line in LaLiga, he soon suffered a serious knee injury that halted his adaptation under Imanol Alguacil.
On returning he showed power, hold-up play and penalty-box presence, yet inconsistency and competition limited his run in the side. Over subsequent seasons he alternated starts and cameos, without finding a sustained scoring streak to match the initial investment.
