SAFiel contacts Corinthians again and rejects condition set by Osmar Stabile | OneFootball

SAFiel, the plan to convert Corinthians into a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol, has renewed contact with the club and challenged a key condition set by president Osmar Stabile.

According to Meu Timao, the group approached Corinthians on Monday, a little over a week after replying to board questions, asking for a clear outline of next steps following the 26 August meeting.

SAFiel objects to Stabile’s demand that further talks happen only after the project settles Neo Química Arena’s debt with Caixa Econômica Federal. It argues responsibilities must be reciprocal and that no side should shoulder a billion reais risk first. It says any deal needs legal certainty, institutional approvals and binding contracts.

At the end of last month, Stabile said he would sign a binding paper to advance talks if the project presented funds to clear the Arena debt. The group later sent a letter accepting that proposal, including the settlement, and requested an urgent meeting.

The proposal, delivered on 2 June, targets raising R$ 2.5 billion, potentially rising to R$ 3 billion. Funds would primarily clear football debts, support sporting investment, upgrade infrastructure, enhance governance and strengthen the social club.

Supporters would have direct influence via investments from R$ 250, with participation limits per CPF. External investors could join through non voting shares if the total needed had to be topped up.

Club identity would be protected, with no changes allowed to name, symbols, colours or crest. In cases of serious breaches or mismanagement, Corinthians could trigger a clause to retake football control.

Any transaction would still require approvals from statutory bodies, independent due diligence, regulatory sign offs and final assent from members at a General Assembly.
