Crystal Palace boss Pierre Sage says the club do not want Ismaila Sarr to leave and insists he missed their 2-0 defeat to Everton through injury.

Sarr was absent from the squad at Goodison Park after suffering a groin problem, Sage says, and has also been linked with a move to Galatasaray of late.

“He was injured because he has a pain in his groin,” Sage said.

“We took the decision yesterday before the session with the doctor, the player, and me, to let him get treatment and do an individual session and he will be back on Monday with us.

“For the moment, we don’t want him to leave. He is under contract with us with three years to go and he will be with us on Monday.”

Asked whether the 28-year-old is happy at Palace, Sage replied: “You can ask him. I think so because he won a lot of trophies with us.”

The Eagles also suffered an injury concern during the defeat as defender Chadi Riad was forced off on a stretcher.

Sage says Palace will wait for further medical tests before determining the severity of the issue.

“For the moment I don’t know,” he said.

“He’s with the doctor and the physios and we will do the medical tests on Monday or tomorrow and will wait for the information.

“He has had this kind of thing in the past and we have to be respectful with that and don’t give him fake information.”
