Saibari, Musiala, and Co. – Will the Bayern stars be fit by the start of the season? | OneFootball

With just under two weeks to go before FC Bayern’s first competitive match of the new season, there’s good news from the injury list. Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and new signing Ismael Saibari have significantly increased their workload in training. The trio could return in time for the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund. For Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry, however, things aren’t looking quite as promising.

While Vincent Kompany’s team is on its tour of Asia, intensive work is underway at Säbener Straße to prepare several players for their comebacks. As reported by BILD, Musiala, Davies, and Saibari completed an intensive training session together with head of rehabilitation Benjamin Sommer.

The trio’s training load has been steadily increased recently. As things stand, there is hope that all three players will be fit to play in the Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund on August 22.

Kompany is likely particularly pleased with the progress of Musiala and Davies. Both are generally considered regular starters and could provide the Bayern coach with significantly more options for the season opener.

Things are also looking increasingly positive for Saibari. The summer signing suffered a torn muscle fiber in his thigh while playing for Morocco in the World Cup and has therefore not yet been able to fully get started with his new team.

Sporting director Max Eberl had recently announced that the 25-year-old was set to enter the decisive phase of his preseason training following the team’s tour of Asia. Now it appears that this timeline is on track.

The Munich club continues to take a much more cautious approach with Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry. Both are also back in training following their injuries, but according to BILD, they are not yet at the same level of intensity as Musiala, Davies, and Saibari. Their training sessions are still being carefully managed. Their participation in the Super Cup is therefore currently in doubt.

Youngster Karl, in particular, reportedly suffered a setback in training this week.

Meanwhile, Bryan Zaragoza is also making progress. The Spaniard completed running drills and light sessions with the ball. After recovering from knee inflammation, the winger is slowly working his way back up to a higher training load.

On the field, however, Zaragoza no longer plays a major role in Munich’s plans. FC Bayern would like to transfer the 24-year-old during the current transfer window and is looking for a suitable solution.
