AS Saint-Étienne beat Laval 2-1 on Saturday 21 February to move back into second place behind leaders Troyes.

Le Progres highlights several positives, with Boakye heavily involved in much of the home side’s best play.

Restored to the centre, the Ghanaian worked tirelessly in and out of possession, aiding recoveries and setting the tempo with incisive passing and, when needed, solo forays. His splendid 25-metre strike brought the second goal.

Stassin was in the thick of the main actions as well. In contrast, Miladinovic looked laboured.

Saint-Étienne controlled the first 45 minutes yet could not completely pull clear before the final whistle, but they saw the job through.
