Sam Greenwood has joined Bristol City on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, reuniting with former Leeds United coach Skubala. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the move makes the attacking midfielder the Robins' second signing of the summer.

The pair previously worked together at Elland Road, first with the under-21s then with the first team. Skubala left Lincoln City to take the Bristol City job at the end of May.

Greenwood, 24, had loans at Middlesbrough and Preston North End before a permanent switch to Polish side Pogon Szczecin last summer. That transfer set a club record for Pogon, and he now returns to English football with the Robins.

Skubala views Greenwood as fitting the profile Bristol City are targeting, describing him as young, driven and already seasoned at senior level. He welcomed the chance to help him progress this season.

Greenwood expressed excitement at signing, noting the club’s ambition and first impressions of the stadium have given him a real spark. Elsewhere, Brentford are eyeing former Leeds loanee Jaidon Anthony, who spent 2023-24 at Elland Road before joining Burnley permanently in May 2025, and have held initial talks with Burnley about him and team-mate Zian Flemming.
