Samson Baidoo will be available for Lens’ Coupe de France semi-final against Toulouse on Tuesday at 21:10 after his brief return in the 3-2 Ligue 1 win. L'Équipe reports that the defender is fit after that outing.
Head coach Pierre Sage had said he would assess how the 1.86m defender recovered from about 10 minutes against Toulouse, and there have been no issues since. He is regarded as one of Lens’ pillars.
Baidoo has been largely sidelined since 24 January, featuring only 60 minutes against Rennes on 7 February. He had recently been a source of frustration for Sage, but the situation now appears settled.
Sage now faces a selection call, to start him immediately in this knockout tie or wait for a league outing. If he goes with the first option, Arthur Masuaku, impressive on his first start on Friday, would keep his place to the left of Malang Sarr.
The positive update comes at the end of a weekend that also saw Lens push towards the direct Champions League places.
