The Competition Committee of the Federació de Futbol de la Comunitat Valenciana has banned San Antonio de Benagéber CF’s goalkeeper for 38 matches after a violent incident during a Group II Primera FFCV fixture against CDFB L’Eliana at the Municipal de San Antonio de Benagéber.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the player received 37 matches for assaulting an assistant referee and one additional match for the prior dismissal for a second yellow card.
The flashpoint came after the home keeper, José Antonio A. G., had already been sent off for two bookings. He then punched assistant referee number one, Nicolás A. T., a young official from Vinaròs who has been attached to the València delegation for two years.
The match was interrupted and the assistant required medical attention. The disciplinary resolution, published on Thursday, states that the punishment is for assaulting the first assistant, who needed treatment, and notes there was no prior notice to the committee of any sporting or occupational absence caused by the incident.
The game will resume on 11 March at 20.00, restarting from the exact minute at which play was halted.
The episode again highlights the protection of match officials in youth and regional football, particularly young assistants beginning in autonomous competitions. The FFCV has circulated disciplinary reminders in recent years to toughen sanctions for aggression towards referees and assistants.
