San Mamés attendance to boost chances for a potential Copa final

Attendance at San Mamés will again count towards priority for any Copa final, starting this Saturday when Athletic host Sevilla in Bilbao’s first league match of the season.

According to El Correo, the club will reward loyalty across the next two campaigns with a refreshed attendance counter. The more a seat is used, the greater the chance of securing a ticket if Athletic reach a Copa final. Usage will count whether the member attends in person, transfers the seat and it is used, or releases it to the club, regardless of whether it is ultimately sold.

The counter resets on 22 August and will remain active for all league and Copa fixtures at San Mamés in 2026-27 and 2027-28. The headline change is continuity, with rolling two‑season blocks so the final season of one also serves as the first of the next.

In any hypothetical Copa final, every member can enter the ballot. Those who neither attend nor cede their seat for any match receive one entry. All others get one entry per recorded game plus an initial one, so a member whose seat is used in 35 matches would go in with 36 entries.

European ties are excluded from this calculation. Attendance at those games will carry separate bonuses, to be outlined in due course.
