Santos could fine Neymar up to 30% of his salary after an incident involving Robinho Jr at CT Rei Pelé on Sunday. A final decision is expected once the club’s internal inquiry delivers its report.
According to Diario Do Peixe, club directors broadly agree the number 10 is likely to receive a fine in the 10% to 30% range.
Neymar was interviewed on Monday. He accepted he slapped his team-mate in a playful training context, said he also receives similar contact, stressed there was no intent to injure, and said he had apologised while maintaining a close relationship with the youngster.
Both Neymar and Robinho Jr are included for Tuesday’s match against Recoleta in the fourth round of the Copa Sudamericana. Neymar is expected to start, with the youngster likely to be on the bench.
Robinho Jr is due to give his account when the squad return to Brazil on Wednesday. The internal probe will compile testimonies, images and other material before determining any measures.
