Santos are holding out for at least six million euros for academy right-back JP Chermont and are awaiting Ajax's response, according to Globo.com. The 20-year-old is seen as unlikely to depart this window given the Dutch side's current stance.
Ajax have offered four million euros, roughly R$ 24.8 million, while Santos want at least six million euros, about R$ 37.2 million, to move talks forward. People close to the player do not expect an easy agreement from the European side.
Ajax have until Tuesday, 3 February, to finalise any deal, as the Dutch transfer window closes that day.
Chermont is seeking more first-team opportunities after an early rise with the senior squad.
He started much of the 2024 Série B campaign, then lost his place last year and featured for the under-20s in the second half of the season.
His last official appearance for Santos came in May 2025, a 1-0 defeat to Grêmio under Cleber Xavier.
This year he stood out in the Copa São Paulo, then returned to the senior matchday squad. He was among the call-ups for the Brasileirão opener and, after a decision to rest Mayke, remained on the bench in the 4-2 loss to Chapecoense.
