Santos are set to reshape their squad, negotiating exits for Caballero and Alexis Duarte, while Billal Brahimi moves closer to settling his next club. According to Globo.com, Brahimi has been cleared to find a new destination and could head to Portugal.
All three have had limited minutes and look likely to leave Vila Belmiro. On Wednesday, Alexis Duarte and Caballero featured in the defeat to Chapecoense. The defender drew criticism and the forward played only the first half.
Duarte was omitted from the squad for Saturday's derby against São Paulo and has unnamed suitors. The board are weighing options after investing to sign him from Spartak Moscow in September.
Caballero is in advanced talks over a loan to Portsmouth in England, UOL reports. He was not selected for the trip to Morumbis and has been allowed to travel for medical tests.
Brahimi is expected to finalise his exit this weekend. The Algerian's deal runs until the end of the year and negotiations to move to Portugal are advanced. He has played just over 20 minutes for the club and has not featured since September last year.
The outgoings are set to trigger a fresh search for reinforcements. Some at the club favour signing a holding midfielder and a forward, the latter even after Rony's arrival. The hierarchy are also assessing options at left-back, with Vinicius Lira and Escobar currently available.
