Santos mourns businessman’s death in Santa Catarina helicopter crash | OneFootball

Santos have expressed condolences after businessman Bruno Avelar died in a helicopter crash in Santa Catarina. The club said in a statement that he had contributed to projects at Vila Belmiro and continued to work with its marketing and business department.

Avelar was on board with singer Rick, videomaker Paulo Soares, pilot Antônio and co-pilot Leopoldo. Firefighters identified the five on Tuesday 22, and there were no survivors.

The group took off on Monday 21 in the morning from Porto Belo, on the north coast, bound for São Joaquim in the Serra. The aircraft, registered PP-MGR, a Bell 430 operated by JTA Empreendimento e Urbanismo, failed to arrive and disappeared in the afternoon.

The area they were flying over had a forecast of severe storms. Firefighters, civil defence, military police, the Brazilian Air Force and volunteers joined the search, using drones with thermal sensors to find the wreckage after a GPS signal.

Avelar had been working with Santos’ marketing and had a relationship with Neymar Jr, taking part in auctions run by the player’s institute.

The statement also mourned the deaths of Rick, Paulo Soares and the helicopter’s pilot and co-pilot, and expressed solidarity with the victims’ families and friends.
