Santos have rejected Genoa’s offer to sign 18-year-old forward Robinho Jr on a season-long loan with an option to buy, according to Diario Do Peixe.
The bid included an option set at eight million euros, roughly R$ 48 million, but the proposed salary split was the sticking point. Genoa would cover half of his wages during the loan, leaving Santos to pay the rest.
Despite the potential payout at the end of the spell, Santos declined to share costs and are awaiting a possible counteroffer to keep talks alive. The model also envisaged the club retaining 10% of Robinho Jr’s economic rights.
Robinho Jr has not played for more than a month. His last outing was on 21 July in a 6-0 win over UCV in Venezuela in the Copa Sudamericana.
This season he has 13 appearances for Santos and one goal, scored from the penalty spot in a friendly against União São João during the World Cup break.
Since his senior debut in July 2025 he has featured 27 times for the first team, starting twice. He has yet to score in official matches and has one assist.
The forward is attracting interest from other European clubs and travelled to Italy earlier this week to handle passport and residency paperwork. His future remains open, and Santos do not intend to accept terms similar to Genoa’s initial proposal.
