Santos resumed training on Tuesday morning at CT Rei Pelé after a Monday rest day, as Juan Pablo Vojvoda began preparations for the Athletico-PR clash.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Vojvoda led technical and tactical drills, while players with heavier workloads from Sunday’s win over Noroeste worked indoors. He is likely to sketch his line-up on Wednesday before travelling to Curitiba.

Midfielder Gabriel Menino is in line to return after suspension and has a strong chance of regaining a starting berth.

Neymar remains in reconditioning and is expected to be preserved for the trip. Internally, he is expected to be available against Velo Clube at Vila Belmiro in the final group game of the Paulistão, with the synthetic surface at Arena da Baixada a factor.

Gabriel Barbosa, who is treating tendinitis, could also be rested to avoid aggravation on the synthetic pitch.

Defender João Basso has been diagnosed with a right calf oedema after Monday’s tests and will miss the next matches. That compounds concerns with Adonis Frías already out with a right calf injury.

Vojvoda’s main centre-back options now are Zé Ivaldo, Luan Peres and Alexis Duarte, with youngsters João Alencar and João Ananias under consideration.

Midfielder Zé Rafael is expected to remain out as he continues treatment for patellar tendinitis in his left knee, having already missed the Noroeste game.

There is a boost with academy product Gustavo Henrique back from a right adductor injury and available for the next stretch.
