Santos intend to use part of JP Chermont’s transfer fee to pay one overdue image-rights payroll on Friday, before the clássico with São Paulo.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the club expect about US$ 2.5 million to arrive upfront from Sharjah in the coming days, roughly R$ 13 million, with Santos entitled to 80%.

Officials negotiated with Coritiba, the player and his representatives to push some payments to 2029, the final year of his Sharjah deal. The deferred slice concerns up to US$ 1 million in bonuses, letting Santos use the upfront sum without immediate pass-through.

Chermont moved to Sharjah after a loan at Coritiba, in a deal worth US$ 2.5 million fixed plus US$ 1 million in add-ons. Santos originally held 75% of his rights, increased to 80% after talks involving the player. Coritiba retain 10% as a shop-window fee.

Santos are two months behind on image-rights payments to the senior squad, with that payroll around R$ 15.1 million per month to June, as disclosed at a Deliberative Council meeting. In August they cleared two instalments while a third neared, leaving one overdue, but by September arrears had returned to two.

The club also face liabilities of about R$ 18 million to Cuiabá over Joaquim and roughly R$ 15 million relating to Pedro Caixinha and staff.

Santos visit São Paulo on Friday at 20:00 at Morumbis in a rescheduled round 21 Brasileiro match.
