Santos will wear a bespoke patch honouring Naty Potira in Friday 2’s clássico against São Paulo at Morumbis, a rearranged 21st round Brasileirão match at 20:00. The influential fan died on Saturday 26, aged 39, from cervical cancer with abdominal metastasis.

The club said in a statement that the personalised patch, bearing her image, will also represent Santos supporters who have faced or are facing cancer, and serve as an awareness message for October Rosa, a campaign she embraced, stressing the importance of early diagnosis.

Potira was an influencer who followed the team closely, sharing goal clips, reaction videos and commentary on the Peixe across social media.

She had been treated for cancer since September 2023. She later told followers she was improving while remaining in therapy, but her condition worsened and she spent a month in hospital before her death.

Her wake was held at the Torcida Jovem hall, one of the club’s biggest organised supporter groups, with friends, relatives, staff and players from Sereias da Vila in attendance.

Potira championed women’s football and worked as a flight attendant. Recently, Neymar Jr, Santos and several brands used social media to rally support for her.
