According to Diario Do Peixe, Willian Arão trained fully with Santos on Monday and will bolster the side for Friday’s clássico against São Paulo at Morumbis, a rearranged round 21 fixture. Kick-off is at 20:00.

The squad reassembled at CT Rei Pelé after a Sunday off, with Cuca’s staff leading a session focused mainly on physical work.

Arão began his transition on Saturday 26, returning to the pitch, then stepped up on Monday to join team activities without issues linked to his internal oblique muscle.

Álvaro Barreal also continues his return. The Argentine trained normally on Saturday and has recovered from a left biceps femoris injury.

Neymar remains on an individual programme as he recovers from a right rectus femoris problem. He is already working on the grass at CT Rei Pelé but is not expected to be named for the clássico.

If progress follows in the coming days, the expectation is that Neymar could be ready to face Flamengo on the eighth of October at Vila Belmiro in round 29.

Philippe Coutinho is building fitness ahead of his Santos debut, increasing workloads since his unveiling. He has not played a competitive match since 14 February, when he was at Vasco. Any decision on whether to include him against Flamengo will depend on his progress in upcoming sessions.

Santos are eighth in the Campeonato Brasileiro with 38 points from 27 games, unbeaten in six with five wins and one draw. They have beaten Vasco, Corinthians, Internacional, Cruzeiro and Remo, and drew with Mirassol.
