São Paulo court annuls meeting that removed Romeu Tuma Júnior from Corinthians’ Deliberative Council | OneFootball

The São Paulo judiciary has upheld Romeu Tuma Júnior’s lawsuit, annulling the 23 March meeting that removed him and all of its decisions, and restoring him as president of Corinthians’ Deliberative Council.

According to Meu Timao, judge Antonio Manssur Filho of the 2nd Civil Court of the Tatuapé Regional Forum confirmed the earlier injunction and ruled in Tuma’s favour. The ruling voids the convocation notice and the minutes from 23 March, and orders the cancellation of Averbação nº 509.221.

On 18 March, club president Osmar Stabile called an extraordinary council session to deliberate on Tuma’s removal over alleged threats, harassment and interference after a disorderly 9 March meeting on proposed statute reform.

The 23 March session was led initially by first secretary Maria Angela Ocampos, now expelled from the club’s membership, who halted proceedings after a row with Rubens Gomes. Councillors then restarted under second secretary Denis Nieto Piovezan, a move Tuma’s action said is not provided for in the statute.

The vote removed the council chief by 115 to 15, with vice-president Leonardo Pantaleão assuming the role thereafter. Tuma nonetheless remained in post until taking leave in April.

In June, the court rejected a request to validate the meeting minutes at the registry office. On 6 July, deliberations from March were suspended and Tuma was provisionally reinstated, which the latest judgment now confirms.
