São Paulo court orders fresh suspension of Corinthians assembly on statute reform | OneFootball

The São Paulo state court has suspended Corinthians’ extraordinary general meeting, scheduled for the 19th to vote on changes to the club’s statute.

The interim ruling was issued by reporting judge Maurício Campos da Silva Velho after an appeal by life members Ademir de Carvalho Benedito, Alexandre Husni and Guilherme Gonçalves Strenger, according to Globo.com.

He indicated there were signs the new assembly would attempt to bypass an appeal ruling already granted. The court extended that decision and halted the meeting until the case reaches a final judgment.

The order also bars Corinthians from calling further meetings with the same purpose. Any breach could trigger a R$ 50,000 fine, plus potential sanctions for bad-faith litigation.

It is the third time the general assembly to vote on statute reform has been suspended.
