São Paulo Public Prosecutor’s Superior Council has set a meeting for 27 January to rule on Corinthians’ appeal against the civil inquiry examining a possible judicial intervention at the club.

According to Meu Timao, the CSMP-SP, chaired by the State Attorney General, reviews appeals against prosecutors’ decisions. Prosecutor Luiz Ambra Neto, who leads the civil inquiry, referred the case to the council after rejecting the club’s defence, which sought to close the action.

When a challenge is rejected, the file must go to the council. The case will be reported by prosecutor Marcos Stefani, and the decision could either archive the inquiry by upholding the club’s request, or keep it open by siding with MP-SP.

If the inquiry remains open, MP-SP will examine the arguments put forward by prosecutor Cássio Conserino for a judicial intervention, assessing whether Corinthians’ political, financial and administrative context supports the measure. Conserino made his request in November 2025 amid criminal probes into former presidents Andrés Sanchez, Duilio Monteiro Alves and Augusto Melo over alleged irregularities, including improper corporate card spending, suspected false invoices and the VaideBet case.

The council’s agenda listed Andrés and Duilio as interested parties alongside Corinthians, but those names appear only because of criminal inquiries against them, a system linkage error. The civil inquiry names only Corinthians, and has not cited the former chiefs. During Tuesday’s session, only the club can, if it chooses, make an oral submission for closure.
