SC Freiburg's annual general meeting on Thursday evening lasted over three hours, with plenty of emotional speeches and discussions, as Kicker.de reported.
However, one vote received 99.5% approval from those in attendance - former SC chairman Achim Stocker, who died in 2009, was elected honorary chairman.
Earlier that night, Supervisory Board Chairman Heinrich Breit had paid tribute to the longtime club chairman, who would have turned 90 in May.
His widow, Hanne Stocker, received a standing ovation when she stated her husband would have been proud of how his club had developed and is led by those in charge now.
Later however, many critical voices expressed concern about both the lack of transparency and the selection of the four candidates proposed by the supervisory board.
It was decided that, during a transitional phase, the association council would consist of the current honorary council members and up to four new members.
Since only four were up for election, some members felt this was undemocratic. Ultimately, all four were elected, for the first time by electronic voting.
Marc Schmid, a member of the supervisory board since 2014, was elected chairman of the club council alongside Lea Ehinger, Fabian Freiseis, and Stefanie Renz.
