First in 2021 as a possible replacement for Edin Dzeko, then in 2023, in a head-to-head with Alvaro Morata.
Gianluca Scamacca has already been close to returning to Roma on two occasions, but the deal has never materialized.
In recent days, his name has been linked with Roma again.
His contract expires in 2028, and Atalanta are unlikely to part ways with him immediately. Or at least not before understanding the intentions of Maurizio Sarri, who is poised to replace Raffaele Palladino on the Nerazzurri bench.
Scamacca, a Roman and Roma fan, has always dreamed of wearing the Giallorossi jersey.
Currently, however, according to Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, Gian Piero Gasperini appears to be leaning towards other profiles.
The Piedmontese coach, in fact, is reportedly looking for a backup to Malen, similar to the Dutchman in terms of characteristics and physical build, rather than a center forward like Scamacca.
The path, at least for now, is considered cold, but the 1999-born player’s strong desire to wear the Giallorossi jersey could play a decisive role in the coming weeks.
