Schalke 04 have extended midfielder Soufiane El-Faouzi’s contract until 2030. According to BuLi News, the deal contains no release clause.

The 23-year-old played a key role in last season’s promotion to the Bundesliga, and the extension effectively fends off interest in him.

Director of professional football Youri Mulder said El-Faouzi brings the quality and mentality Schalke want in their squad, and called the renewal an important signal for sporting direction and squad value. He added the midfielder is highly sought-after, and that the club want him to develop in his current environment while continuing to play a major role.

El-Faouzi said he feels very comfortable at Schalke, especially within the team, and that talks about his future were positive.

He said he is now looking forward to seeing his team-mates again and beginning preparations for his first season in the Bundesliga.
