If he maintains his form in the coming months, a fee of around €1.5 million could be enough.

The Senegalese full-back, who came through the youth ranks at FC Barcelona, arrived on loan to cover the injured Vitalie Becker and is contracted there until 2028.

For cash-strapped Schalke, that figure is not small and may only be affordable if they secure promotion.

His role could also change when Becker returns from his enforced absence.
