It was reported earlier this week that Hoffenheim’s managing director for sport, Andreas Schicker, could leave the club amid an alleged data protection breach.
However, according to Bild, interim CEO Christoph Henssler is now having second thoughts following strong public backlash.
Schicker addressed the situation himself in an interview with DAZN ahead of Hoffenheim’s 5–1 defeat to Bayern Munich on Sunday.
“I find it very unfortunate. Things have happened this week that I can’t even comprehend myself. In Austria, they would call this a ‘Kasperle-Theater’ (puppet show, editor's note),” he said.
“From my side, I can only say that I want to stay. I’ve received a lot of support this week from sponsors and staff. We’ll see how it turns out on Monday.”
Since taking the reins, Schicker has lifted Hoffenheim from being involved in a relegation battle to third place in the Bundesliga.
