Andreas Schicker has addressed speculation over his position as Hoffenheim’s managing director for sport amid reports he could leave following an alleged data protection breach.

Bild claims interim CEO Christoph Henssler is now reconsidering after a strong public backlash.

Speaking before Sunday’s meeting with Bayern Munich, Schicker said: “I find it very unfortunate. Things have happened this week that I can’t even comprehend myself. In Austria, they would call this a ‘Kasperle-Theater’ (puppet show, editor's note).”

He was speaking to DAZN.

The match that followed ended in a 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich.

“From my side, I can only say that I want to stay. I’ve received a lot of support this week from sponsors and staff. We’ll see how it turns out on Monday.”

Since taking the reins, Schicker has lifted Hoffenheim from a relegation battle to third place in the Bundesliga.
