Eintracht Frankfurt Women are into the last four of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup after beating FC Nordsjaelland 3-2 in the quarter-final second leg, and 7-2 on aggregate.
Eintracht Frankfurt Women followed up on their 4-0 quarter-final first-leg victory over Danish side FC Nordsjaelland with a 3-2 triumph in the return fixture to deservedly seal their passage to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup.
Niko Arnautis’s side once again got off to a flyer and took the lead in the fifth minute when Jella Veit laid the ball off inside the penalty area for Remina Chiba, who prodded in the opener from close-range.Reuteler extends lead The Eagles pressed their Danish opponents high up the pitch and with great intensity, and were rewarded for their efforts in the 22nd minute with a second goal. Jarne Teulings won possession in the penalty box and found the unmarked Geraldine Reuteler, who was left with a simple finish past Ella-Maria Ervasti.Princess Marfo pulls one back The hosts reduced the deficit on the half-hour mark when Carli Scheuer played the ball into the area from the left for Princess Marfo, who made it 2-1, giving Eintracht a narrow lead at the interval.
Fast start in second half The Eagles restored their two-goal cushion on the night in the 52nd minute when Elisa Senß found the run of substitute Hayley Raso, who coolly slotted past Ervasti and into the bottom right-hand corner. Walter on targetThe home side found the net again when Anna Walter’s unstoppable long-range strike flew into the bottom corner to make the final score on the night 3-2 (66’).Semi-final against BK HäckenArnautis’s charges will now take on BK Häcken in the last four. The Swedish side advanced to this stage of the competition after beating Breidablik 7-0 at home and 2-0 away.
The semi-final first leg will take place on 24/25 March in Frankfurt, with the return fixture on 1/2 April. UEFA will confirm exact dates and kick-off times in due course.
