Adi Hütter has confirmed that right-back Elias Baum will stay at Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, easing talk of a move.

According to Get German Football News, Borussia Dortmund had explored a deal, with new sporting director Nils Ole Book familiar with Baum from his successful 2024/25 loan at SV Elversberg.

The 20-year-old strengthened his case by assisting Jonathan Burkardt’s winner in a 1-0 pre-season victory over third-tier SV Waldhof Mannheim. Hütter was also satisfied with his defensive work in the friendly.

Hütter portrayed Baum as a dynamic academy full-back who has trained well throughout the summer. He highlighted the youngster’s commitment and that he met his defensive responsibilities.

The declaration cools persistent speculation for now. Baum impressed as one of the 2. Bundesliga’s standout right-backs at Elversberg, but injuries limited him to 71 minutes of Bundesliga football in 2025/26.

He failed to secure a regular role under Dino Toppmöller or Albert Riera, and his situation now appears set to change under Hütter. A strong pre-season has also seen Frankfurt pause their search for another right-back.

A switch to Dortmund might have offered Champions League football and a reunion with Book, yet the pathway at Frankfurt currently looks clearer. With his coach’s backing, Baum has the chance to relaunch his Eintracht career where it began.
