The Nerazzurri were in crisis after back-to-back Serie A defeats to Udinese and rivals Juventus, but there was a significant step forward in the midweek Champions League victory away to Ajax.
Now they need to bring some of that European form to domestic football, but Lautaro Martinez is still not fully fit after missing the Amsterdam clash with a back injury.
Young striker Esposito is therefore confirmed upfront with brace hero Thuram.
There is rotation elsewhere, with the return of Francesco Acerbi, Carlos Augusto and Petar Sucic, but also goalkeeper Josep Martinez giving Yann Sommer a rest.

Sassuolo had a rough start to the season with defeats to Napoli and Cremonese, but got themselves off the mark with a 1-0 victory against Lazio.
