A growing contingent of Real Madrid players are of the opinion that manager Xabi Alonso should be sent packing by the club at the earliest opportunity.

That’s according to journalist Jorge C Picon, who has provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

The subject of Alonso’s future has of course returned to the fore in the media headlines in a major way over the last 24 hours.

This comes fresh off Real Madrid’s latest underwhelming performance, en route to a 2-2 draw with Elche.

Los Blancos, stretching back to the far side of the international break, have now not emerged victorious from any of their last three outings.

A concerning lack of fight and passion on the part of several players has been widely highlighted across this stretch, amid suggestions that Xabi Alonso may already be losing the dressing room.

And as alluded to above, such claims would certainly appear to align with the latest word stemming from the media on Monday evening.

‘Xabi Alonso’s situation is starting to become unsustainable. There are several players (more than people think) who want a change.’
