Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Georgian midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili from Sporting de Portugal on a contract until 2030. The deal had been in the works for several weeks, and he is now in Seville working under Luís García Plaza.

Kochorashvili joined Levante UD’s B team in 19/20 and made his first-team debut a few months later. He remained until the end of 24/25, missing many matches through injury but becoming an influential figure and a fans’ favourite. He also spent a season on loan at CD Castellón, who fell just short of promotion to Segunda División.

Last summer he moved to Portugal and started most of the campaign before another injury sidelined him. He now returns to Spain, where he has spent the bulk of his professional career, aiming to recapture his best form.

The midfielder joined the travelling party that flew to Bilbao this afternoon. He could be named in the squad for the second league match, which Sevilla play on Saturday at 17:00. On debut, he would become the first Georgian to represent the club.

Internationally, Kochorashvili debuted for Georgia in September 2023 in a EURO 2024 qualifier against Norway. He has 26 caps, including four at a European Championship, and has scored four goals.

A defensively strong midfielder with good passing range, timing of runs and a powerful shot off either foot, he is Sevilla’s seventh summer addition. If injuries allow, he could become an important player for García Plaza.
