Sevilla ‘to discuss’ Carlos Álvarez return as Levante eye foreign sale | OneFootball

Sevilla FC are assessing a move to bring Carlos Álvarez back, with the Levante playmaker’s future potentially being resolved in the coming days and a departure before the deadline still possible.

Onda Deportiva Valencia reports Sevilla have held recent talks with Levante over the academy graduate, whose contract runs until 2027 and is yet to be renewed. Radio Marca Valencia adds Levante are awaiting an overseas bid and that, if a formal offer arrives, Álvarez could leave before the summer window shuts.

Uncertainty increased after he did not feature in Levante’s last game against CA Osasuna. Head coach Luis Castro later said the choice was purely based on the team needing different options, which has further fuelled speculation.

Born on six August 2003 in Sanlúcar la Mayor, Álvarez joined Sevilla’s academy in 2011. He played 84 times for Sevilla Atlético, debuting for the first team in the Copa del Rey and scoring, and also made one LaLiga appearance in 2022-23.

He moved to Levante on a free in August 2023 on a deal to June 2027. He has since passed 100 games, was influential in the 2024-25 promotion with seven goals and 11 assists, then consolidated in LaLiga as a key performer.

Sevilla retain 30% of his economic rights, which could ease an agreement. One option under study is to buy a further 20% to reach a shared 50%, although Levante prefer a foreign sale to maximise income.
