According to La Colina De Nervion, Aris Thessaloniki will trigger the obligatory buy option on 1 January 2027, ending Rafa Mir’s Sevilla stint six months early.
The striker had been under contract until June 2027, but the transfer will be completed for a symbolic fee as part of his loan agreement.
Aris initially sought a straight loan, however both clubs agreed from the outset that the deal would automatically convert into a permanent move at the start of 2027.
Across these months, Mir refused to forgo any of his Sevilla wages. The Greek side are covering roughly 40 to 45 percent of his salary, with Sevilla paying the remainder until completion.
Mir joined Sevilla in August 2021 after a standout year on loan at SD Huesca, where he scored 13 LaLiga goals in 2020-21.
Sevilla paid around €16 million, including add-ons, to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Over roughly 105 matches he scored 24 times and was part of the 2022-23 Europa League-winning squad.
His role diminished thereafter, leading to loans to Valencia in 2024-25 and then Elche, where he netted eight goals before moving to Greece.
For Sevilla, the operation frees up a valuable squad place and brings clarity to medium-term planning.
