According to La Colina De Nervion, Sevilla have contacted Atlético Madrid to discuss a loan for José María Giménez until June.

The outline being weighed would require Sevilla to cover a significant share of his salary, and the club are calculating what they can assume. Atlético also contemplate his departure.

Giménez is among players the Madrid club could move on in the final hours of the window, alongside Thomas Lemar, Obed Vargas and Carlos Martín. The latter two have also been linked with Sevilla.

Luis García Plaza’s plan prioritises a centre-back ahead of midfield after advancing on a striker and a winger. Lucas Stassin is confirmed as an attacking addition, pending final formalities.

At 31, the Uruguayan brings La Liga experience, leadership and aerial strength. Right-footed, he can play on either side and defends aggressively with sharp anticipation.

His injury record is a notable concern, so the enquiry could yet go no further.
