Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk will play their Champions League home matches at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge during the 2026/27 season.
The move will see west London host at least four matches in the expanded league phase, with the Champions League draw scheduled for next Thursday.
Shakhtar have been forced to play their European home fixtures away from Ukraine due to the ongoing situation in the country. In recent seasons, they have used stadiums in Germany, Slovenia and Poland as their temporary homes.
Stamford Bridge was reportedly Shakhtar’s preferred option for the upcoming campaign, with Fulham’s Craven Cottage and Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium also considered.
The agreement remains subject to the necessary regulatory approvals, although UEFA and Hammersmith and Fulham Council have already approved the arrangement.
Chelsea, who will not compete in European football this season after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign, welcomed the opportunity to host the Ukrainian champions.
Shakhtar will now begin preparations for another Champions League campaign with Stamford Bridge serving as their temporary home.
