The 40-year-old has become the latest high-profile name to join a Baller League UK side
Ex-Sheffield United and EFL stalwart, Billy Sharp, has landed the latest club of his footballing career, although the identity will certainly surprise plenty of people.
The 40-year-old is, as proven by the statistics, the greatest goalscorer the Championship has ever seen in modern times, scoring 130 times in English football's second tier across 397 appearances since its rebrand in 2004.
It is impossible to think of Sharp's lengthy career, throughout which he has starred in all of the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two, without his three spells at Sheffield United, with the latter certainly bringing plenty of success at Bramall Lane, largely under Chris Wilder.
The Blades have gone on to endure a lull ever since the veteran striker's departure from Bramall Lane for the final time in the summer of 2023, having been relegated from the Premier League, losing in the Championship play-off final to Sunderland in agonising fashion the following season, before enduring a chaotic 2025/26 campaign and a frantic start to the current season too.
However, whilst Sharp will no doubt be wishing his boyhood club well for the coming months, those who have adored him in S2 and fellow South Yorkshire side, Doncaster Rovers, in particular, will now hope to see him banging the goals in, in a different format.

Throughout his senior career, Sharp has scored a total of 299 goals in 813 appearances, as well as racking up 78 assists in the process.
Last season, the experienced forward scored 14 times in all competitions for Doncaster, with his final outing for the Reds seeing him clinch a hat-trick against Peterborough United on the last day of the season.
He has since expressed a desire to continue playing despite questions over potential retirement, and supporters can now see the Steel City native turning out for N5 FC of Baller League UK.
The Baller League concept was first introduced in the UK in 2025, and it was claimed earlier this year by CEO, Felix Starck, "I still think that we're going to see Premier League teams in Baller League sooner than later."
The six-a-side competition begins its fourth season on October 12th, with matches mainly taking place in London's Copper Box Arena.

There are a plethora of one-time professionals and celebrity influencers currently involved in Baller League UK, and it's fair to say that Sharp isn't alone on that front for his new team.
As well as being coached by former Arsenal and German international goalkeeper, Jens Lehmann, N5 UK also boast the likes of Ryan Tunnicliffe, Joe Bennett, Mustapha Carayol and Nile Ranger among their ranks.
However, Blades fans will also see Sharp featuring alongside another of Wilder's League One title-winning side, Kieron Freemon, yet again, whilst their former full-back also turns out for Bromsgrove Sporting of the Southern League Premier Central.

Sharp's passion for the game at all levels is clearly infectious, and his involvement with Baller League UK will certainly help the concept gain more traction due to his stature, especially in the EFL.
However, he has clearly been keeping himself busy in recent times, exclusively revealing to Football League World in January that he even has plans to feature in the dugout, potentially with Sheffield United.
"Yeah, obviously timing and opportunities, they come at different times and, like I say, I’ve prepared for that. I've done my - well they’re called diplomas now. I've done my B license and my A license. I'm on my LMA managers diploma. I'm coaching at the minute as well," said Sharp.
"That is something I want to do. I want to be a manager. I'd love to manage Sheffield United one day, but there's so much work to go into before that that could possibly happen."
