Sheffield United have signed defender Ocean Rolandsen from FA Women’s National League side Watford on a dual club registration.

A former Chelsea academy player, the 22-year-old has enjoyed spells in the second tier with both Millwall Lionesses and more recently London Bees, before spending the last 18 months with the Hornets.

Rolandsen can play both full-back positions as well as midfield and is a former England youth team international.

Stepping back up to the Championship as the Blades look for a first win of 2021, Rolandsen is looking forward to starting her United career.

“I am actually super excited and really happy. I didn’t think something like this would happen, so to be given the opportunity to show what I’m capable of and the potential I’ve got, it’s exciting.

“I’ve always known Sheffield United to be a big club with great players, so to be given the opportunity to be a part of the team’s campaign, it makes me feel nothing but honoured for the chance I’ve been given. I’m determined and can’t wait to represent the Blades.”

Head coach Neil Redfearn admits he’s delighted to make his second signing of the January transfer window in a position which was a target at the start of the month.

“Ocean has got good pedigree from starting at Chelsea and has got a lot of experience at Championship level. She can play left or right back and is comfortable on the ball going forward. At 22, she is at the right age to develop into an asset for the Blades.”
