Jon McCracken has emerged as a goalkeeping target for the trio of Championship clubs
With the summer transfer window not too far away, clubs right across the country will have already kickstarted their preparations ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
At present, the only Championship side to know their fate ahead of next season are Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls' current season under Henrik Pedersen will certainly be marked as 'unforgettable' for all the wrong reasons, as takeover-related headlines continue to dominate the news landscape in this part of the Steel City.
Wednesday suffered the earliest-ever relegation in EFL history last month as a result of just one win all season in the Championship to-date and the deduction of 18 points.
As a result, the final weeks of the season for the South Yorkshire side, and their long-suffering supporters is about finalising a long-awaited search for stable and long-term investment.
Indeed, David Storch was recently named as the second 'preferred bidder' of the takeover process, although with his bid still falling below the desired £30m figure, which ensures debts are paid off and creditors - including Dejphon Chansiri - are paid in full - it is expected Wednesday will begin their first season in League One for three years with a 15-point deficit.
The club will also continue to operate under a transfer fee restriction which was imposed by the EFL last summer, which is set to last until next summer, whilst a weekly wage cap of £7,000 per week for individual players is also set to be in place for next term.
As such, the Owls will remain limited in what business they can conduct in the transfer market in a bid to reshuffle their squad at the start of a potentially new, and much more positive, era in S6.
And, it has already emerged that the club are looking at strengthening their goalkeepers' union, but they are certainly facing competition for a key target.

Pedersen, of course, has been left with a threadbare squad throughout Wednesday's well-documented campaign.
One of the main areas in which the Dane has been incredibly short of options has been between the sticks, with highly-rated Northern Ireland international goalkeeper, Pierce Charles, suffering two injuries across the campaign.
As a result, the Owls have had to turn to the likes of Ethan Horvath, Joe Lumley, Murphy Cooper and Seny Dieng as alternative options on short-term or 'emergency' loan deals.
Meanwhile, despite his injury issues, Charles has continued to attract transfer interest as a result of his high potential and current ability, with Ligue 1 side, RC Strasbourg, submitting a transfer bid which ultimately came to nothing in the most recent window.
As it remains to be seen whether the 20-year-old will stay at Hillsborough next season, Football Insider have reported the club's interest in Dundee FC shot-stopper, Jon McCracken, who will be available on a free transfer in June if his current status remains unchanged, with the SPFL side yet to agree fresh terms with the 25-year-old.
However, it has emerged that the Glaswegian is also on the radar of Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers, who have endured their own problems in terms of goalkeepers this term.
McCracken has made 34 appearances for the Dark Blues this term in all competitions, but has kept just six clean sheets as his team sit 8th in the Scottish top-flight.

With all three clubs keen on the shot-stopper amid his contract situation at Dens Park, it could come down to McCracken to decide his next move.
At present, whilst Wednesday's historical stature is well-documented, a move to Loftus Road or Ewood Park could prove more attractive for the overall betterment of his career.
Again, that could also depend on whether Michael O'Neill can keep the East Lancashire side clear of relegation in the season's final weeks, and what the future holds for the joint-Rovers and Northern Ireland boss at the end of the season, with his nation involved in the FIFA World Cup play-offs next week.
