Shinji Kagawa has returned to training with Sint-Truiden following an injury he sustained prior to the World Cup break. In a post by UDN Sports on twitter, the 33 year-old was confirmed to be travelling back to Belgium after surgery on his injured foot. Kagawa was expected to be out until after the World Cup break, so Sint-Truiden will be delighted that there hasn’t been any further setbacks in his recovery.
The former Dortmund and Manchester United midfielder joined the Canaries half way through last season on a free. So far this season he has made 12 appearances, scoring twice, including a goal directly from a corner.
Sint-Truiden’s Japanese ownership means the club has had a history of bringing in Japanese players from the J League and elsewhere in Europe. Shinji Okazaki joined the club in the summer, while they also have young midfielder Daiki Hashioka as well.
Bernd Hollerbach and the club announced that they will be parting ways at the end of this campaign.
