West Ham are keeping tabs on free agent Jamie Vardy as he seeks a new club after departing Cremonese.

According to Sky Sports (09.53), the Hammers are considering an approach for the 39-year-old as they look to bolster their forward options.

The forward is currently without a club, and could make his return to English football just 12 months after departing Leicester City.

The former England international cemented himself as a club legend at the King Power Stadium, winning the Premier League and FA Cup, as well as securing top flight promotion twice, during his time with the Foxes.

Vardy made the move to Italy last summer, where he scored seven times from 29 appearances in Serie A.

However, it wasn’t enough to save Cremonese from relegation, which led to his exit from the Italian club.

It’s believed that Vardy is attracting interest from West Ham ahead of the opening weekend of the new Championship campaign.

The Hammers are keeping tabs on the 39-year-old’s situation as they weigh up their options to improve Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.

Vardy spent over a decade with Leicester, but he departed the club after their relegation to the Championship in 2025.

It remains to be seen whether the striker would be willing to take the step down to the second tier at this stage of his career.

Vardy was training at Leicester earlier this summer in order to maintain his fitness, but he has yet to agree terms with a new club for the upcoming campaign.

While it would be a short-term signing, this still has the potential to be a smart move for the Hammers, and a boost to their promotion chances.

Vardy scored 18 times for Leicester in the Championship as recently as 2023/24, playing a crucial role in their promotion to the top flight.

So if he is willing to make the move to the London Stadium, then this could be a no-brainer move for the club.
