After weeks out, Sidny Cabral returned to action for Benfica in the win over Vitória de Guimarães, ending a month outside José Mourinho’s plans. Those close to the 23-year-old point to recent work behind his bid to regain the head coach’s confidence.

"He stood out immediately as a modern, dynamic wide player. He had explosive top speed, excellent coordination and a natural ability to win duels," said Marian Willhem, speaking to A Bola.

"What impressed me most was his versatility and adaptability, he felt comfortable in multiple roles. His work rate, in attack and defence, was exceptional. And he worked very hard," he continued.

"What set him apart was his mentality and hunger to be the best on the pitch," he added. The German coach worked with Cabral in his early professional years, and the winger recently caught the eye in a Cape Verde friendly.

This season, for Estrela da Amadora and Benfica, Cabral, valued at 5 million euros, has made 28 competitive appearances, 23 in Liga Portugal Betclic, two in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal and one in the Taça da Liga. Across 1,835 minutes he has six goals and six assists.
